Who still thinks that LeBron James is the “Second Coming” for the Lakers when they are only 2-3 with their first Home Win?
Long Story Short: Every Lakers fan still thinks LeBron is the Savior of the Lakers, an already untouchable franchise over the years from a Championship perspective.
A triple-double was enough for the win over the Denver Nuggets 121-114, while a well-dressed Kobe Bryant watched from the seats.
A Triple-Double for LeBron, seals the deal
Cameras panned to, and fans chanted about “KO-BE, KO-BE” as much as they were looking at Lebron. But Mr. James still stole the show in the end, despite a spirited effort for the limelight by Kobe Bryant. A three-pointer that stymied a spirited chant in favor of Mr. Bryant and a layup with less than 40 seconds left in the game, helped LeBron and the Lakers overcome the Nuggets. In the end, it was 28 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists for LeBron and well worth the time to watch the game, despite all the nail-biting and stress-eating Los Angeles sports fans are experiencing this week with the Dodgers down 2 games to none in the World Series.
Lonzo Ball (who had a well-rounded game with 12 points) and Kyle Kuzma (who had 22 points), as well as Lance Stephenson (who had 12 points), came up big to help in the win. The Los Angeles Lakers will have some help going forward with key players coming off of suspension and injury, so things are seemingly just getting warmed up. How many expected this hodge-podge of a team to “crush it”, honestly? With the franchise that the Lakers have and the team interplay and teamwork heavy history they have, it’s hard to view this eclectic mix of Laker’s players as any kind of team that’s reminiscent to any past championship LAL roster.
In the end, Kobe didn’t “need to come out of retirement” as he has previously joked, as the Laker’s haven’t gone 0-5, but what did you expect with LeBron at the helm? It doesn’t matter if you love or you hate the guy, he’s a natural leader on the hardwood floor.
He may not be the Savior in any rational comparison for Christians, but for Lakers fans, he is still King James.
